Electrical Service Reliability: The Electrical Service Reliability Chairperson reported on the meeting between the committee and Toby Freeman, Pacific Power Regional Community Manager. Since Mid-America Association and Warren Buffet now own Pacific Power there are more resources available to manage the utility company better. Some questions such as the feasibility of underground utilities, better poles, better spacing of wires, and better maintenance were discussed. The money for any improvements is only refunded after the installation of projects. Only the most conservative of projects is refunded by the PUC in the form of rate hikes. A list of questions was given to Toby for answers at a future meeting. Toby also offered to bring a map showing where power failures occur in our area. An Overhead and Underground Electrical Service FAQs report has been received from Florida and another has been requested from Maryland. BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING MINUTES January 11, 2011 The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of the Hammond Landowners Association was held on January 11, 2011 at the Wearing residence. A quorum of members was present. Board members present were: President Tom Wearing, Vice President Pam Scott, Secretary Pat Emerson, Treasurer Sally McGraw, Members-at-Large Dan Axelrod, Priscila Franco, Robert Keyser, and Doug Lathrop. Member-at-Large Erich Ziller was absent. Also present were John Bainbridge, Terry Lathrop, Karl Tiefert and Larie Wearing. The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. by President Tom Wearing. The agenda for the meeting was presented and accepted with a motion which was seconded and approved.. The December 14, 2010 Minutes were accepted with a motion which was seconded and approved. Reports: The Treasurer reported the money market account formerly with American Century Investments has been moved to a money market account with Tri Counties Bank. This move was approved via e-mail by a majority of the Board. The financial reports were presented, discussed and accepted with a motion which was seconded and approved. The Treasurer also reported there are new reporting requirements for Small Tax-Exempt Organizations. The form FTB 199N (California e-Postcard) has been filed by the Treasurer. Correspondence: An e-mail was received from a person wanting to provide chipping, shredding, etc. services. A discussion was held regarding the best time for submitting these items to the newsletter. Due to weather conditions it was decided that perhaps in the spring when these services could be better utilized. Trespass: The cut wood left along the side of the roads by the Deadwood Crewtilities on Dale Creek and High Meadow were originally paid for. Answers will be obtained before the next meeting if possible. Old Business: Hammond Pond Standpipe: The Fire Department will do the testing and inspections. HLA will do the maintenance on the standpipe and the Siskiyou Land Trust has sent the memorandum of understanding to the Trust office for approval. The fill work needed will be done in the spring. Fire Safe Council: Five of the forty-eight miles of clearing have been completed. Work will be stopping this week for the remainder of the winter. Internet Connections: At this time, because of difficulties obtaining a signal, no new internet connection options are available. Various companies have indicated desires to put up new towers so something new may come up in the next six months. Testing will be done to see if AT&T s air card that works off the new 3G service would possibly be an option for faster internet speed.
